Rogério Wolf, foremost Brazilian flautist, handles his instrument with unmistakable and outstanding personality. He has been soloist at major Brazilian orchestras and is often performing on major festivals and concerts both in his native country of Brazil, as well as abroad. He is best known for his 20 year career as principal flute at OSESP – State of São Paulo Symphonic Orchestra.
Rogério’s Images (CD álbum) was recorded with the Budapest Symphonic Orchestra and bring us Alexandre Guerra’s music with Debussy and Ravel’s early 20th century sound influences, as well as some Brazilian spices one can recall works from Villa Lobos and Tom Jobim. It blends the musical texture of an era besides calling, at first listening, an imaginary universe, due to his experience as movie and TV soundtrack composer.
According the tracks titles themselves suggest: “Ventania” (Strong Wind), “Tarde Pousada” (Lazy Afternoom), “Mar Adentro” (High Seas), “Revoada” (Flock), “Passeio de Outono” (Fall Stroll), “Da Janela do Train” (From Trains Window) and “Antes do Amanhecer” (Before Dawn), Rogério Wolf , beyond his sound, handles flute with perfect technique and control, performing with refined taste and exquisitely without compromising a clear and straight forward musical outcome, which is his trade mark.
Together, Rogerio and Alexandre call the audience to an inner journey of which impressionist-romantism are inbound with Brazil´s colors and rythms.
